The spaghetti chronicles....

Some of you know that it's been a challenge for us to introduce David to truly solid food.  He has handled pureed food and baby cereal like a champ, never balking at any of the variety of tastes that he has tried.  He loved baby "puffs" early on, then quickly graduated to Cheerios, happily chewing them (gumming them, really) into submission.

We've had some issues, though, with the more advanced baby foods.  We have received rejections of everything from jarred turkey to beef-and-noodles, and many of the other various of baby concoctions in the Level 3 department.  Anything in this department is likely to come back up, an event traumatic both for David and for us.

Always eager to get his son to try new things, Cory optimistically picked up this jar of "spaghetti" at the grocery store yesterday.  I had an inkling that it would not go over well, but didn't want to rain on the parade.  So, with camera in hand, we gave him dinner last night, and here is the play by play....

First, the anticipation of what is to come.

Next, the first bite.

Then, a quizzical look (we all waited with trepidation).

Quizzical look, part deux.

Trying to escape...

"Maybe covering my mouth will prevent another spoonful of that awful concoction?"

The second bite was not much better (and followed by a full-body shudder, but no gagging).

"That is some nasty stuff!"

Re-jected!

Maybe we will fare better in the future with actual spaghetti than we did with "Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce with Beef Nutritious Dinner".  Don't worry, we ended up giving him some de-licious apricots after his endurance of the above.
