Walking?

David has so far reached his many milestones right on time, and sometimes even a bit early.  For that reason, we haven't worried too much that he seems to have no interest in walking.  And I mean NO interest.

Now, he can do it, you see.  He took three steps last week, merely because he had a ball in each hand and therefore no hands to hold on to the coffee table with.  Once he realized what he was doing, he quickly sank to his bottom and crawled away.  He just seems to see no reason to take those first purposeful, wobbly steps.

This is why I adore these pictures, snapped spontaneously on Saturday while David pushed his dinosaur, a gift from the Murdock grandparents, across the living room on Saturday.  The moment was fleeting, but the images look like he is strolling away.

I can't wait for him to start walking, and hope he does so before spring really sets in.  Playground mulch and gravel can be pretty hard on the knees.  But something tells me I will re-read this post in a few months (weeks, even?), and wonder why I was in such a hurry.
